For easy application, you can prepare a paste of turmeric powder, gram flour and fresh curd. Leave it on your face for 45 minutes and then rinse it off with lukewarm water.


Tomatoes have antioxidants that revitalize your skin. Add a little bit of honey to tomato puree and apply it to your face. Wash it off 30 minutes later with lukewarm water. 

Green Tea Extract

Don’t throw away your used green tea bag just yet. Use it to gently massage your face while it’s still wet. Wash your face after 15 minutes. 

Orange peel

Take equal parts of orange peel powder and sandalwood powder, and add rose water to the mix. Apply this paste directly to your dark spots and rinse it off with lukewarm water after 30 minutes. Apply moisturizer if your skin feels a bit dry.


Papaya extracts are widely used in beauty and skincare products for their antioxidant properties. Apply papaya puree as a face mask and leave it on for 30 minutes. After you wash it off, massage your face using a gentle scrub to exfoliate dead skin.


Before you apply lemon to your skin, make sure your skin is well moisturized and doesn’t have any cuts so as to avoid irritation. Prepare a 1:1 solution of lemon juice and water. Use a cotton ball to apply it to your dark spots and wash your face after 20 minutes. 


Prepare a face mask using mango, honey and almond oil in a 2:1:1 proportion. Or you can adjust the ingredients to have a paste-like consistency. Apply evenly on the entire face and wash it off after 30 minutes.

Use a Sunscreen

While you may be tempted to soak up some sun to get a gorgeous tan, prolonged sun exposure can lead to freckles and dark spots, let alone skin burns. When you go outside, whether it’s summer or winter, apply sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful UV radiation. Your sunscreen should have a minimum of 30 SPF. And make it a routine to reapply sunscreen every 2-3 hours if your job requires you to stay outdoors or if you are traveling. 

Eat right

In some cases, dark spots appear due to nutritional deficiency or eating disorders. Therefore, it is important to eat light and fresh. Include fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet to fill the nutrition gap. Apart from seasonal fruits and greens, eating eggs, legumes, onion, and garlic may also help. If you have specific dietary restrictions, always consult a qualified nutritionist before making any major changes to your diet. 

Take supplements

Sometimes, your body fails to derive nutrients from the food you eat. In that case, you can rely on natural supplements to get your nutrition fix. These supplements have a fair amount of vitamins (C and E) and Zinc, to supply your body with everything that your regular diet lacks. It is advised to consult a medical practitioner before purchasing any over-the-counter supplements. 

Stay hydrated

Moisture is crucial to healthy skin. So it’s important to stay hydrated at all times. Drink 4-5 litres of water a day.
